Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Saint Teresa is an Albanian-born Roman catholic nun and missionary who devoted her life to serving the poor. Mother Teresa of Calcutta also known as St. Teresa, was canonized, i.e., made a saint, on 4th September 2016 by Pope Francis I. She established the organization of the Missionaries of Charity in 1950 and spent 45 years serving the poor and the needy.
She is a prominent figure who brought about social change and strived to give respect, dignity, and basic needs to the marginalized communities. By the end of her service, she ran over 500 missions in over 100 countries, founded a great many homes and hospices for people with leprosy, tuberculosis, and HIV/ AIDS, and founded schools, soup kitchens, and orphanages.
