Mother Teresa’s Organization

  Mother Teresa of Calcutta also known as St. Teresa, founded the Missionaries of Charity in the 1950s. This organization aimed to serve the poor and the marginalized communities. Mother along with her sisters, dedicated their lives to doing God's will, to love and care for the lonely, the abandoned, and the orphaned. Including the Missionaries of Charity, numerous other homes and orphanages were founded by the Missionaries of Charity. Nirmala Shishu Bhavan is one such Mother Teresa organization. It is the very first orphanage founded by Mother Teresa and was built in 1955 in Kolkata and is operational to this day. The sisters of the Missionaries of Charity have a very rich and inspiring history, it is filled with their milestones of selfless service, compassion, and dedication to the poor and the lonely. The Missionaries of Charity was founded by Mother Teresa in 1950. She began her journey with a small group of sisters, consisting of 12 companions. Mother Teresa was a catholic nun from Albania, she felt a strong religious call at the age of 12 and wished to dedicate her life to God. Mother Teresa of Calcutta is a figure of compassion and empathy. Inspired by God’s calling and filled with devotion to serve the poor, she began her work in 1950 and never looked back. The origin of Mother Teresa is Albanian in origin and arrived in Calcutta, India on January 6 1929. She was eighteen then and spent the next 17 years of her life teaching at a Loreto convent. After she realised what her vocation was, she left teaching and spent the rest of her years catering to the poorest of the poor and the marginalized communities.
