Saint Teresa of Calcutta founded the Order of the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata, a roman catholic congregation formed in 1950. The main headquarters of the MOC is located in the Taltala area of Kolkata, India and there are numerous branches spread out in different parts of the country.

 

This catholic congregation has been built on a set of strong foundational values and beliefs, to serve the ‘poorest of the poor’ was the motto of Mother Teresa and the members follow the same. The MOC has a mission, which is to love and serve the poor, sick, needy, dying, underprivileged, and destitute. ·       Adapting to the changing needs: The Missionaries of Charity are more likely to adapt to the changing needs emerging in society. Various branches of MOC are located in war-torn areas and the sisters in such situations equip themselves to provide aid in any form possible. Poverty in our society takes place in many forms and the sisters have the unique ability to equip themselves to every situation and serve those in need.

 

·       A global presence: According to the Vatican the Missionaries of Charity are likely to expand their reach to other countries and provide aid wherever necessary. With the main headquarters located in Kolkata, India, this organization has almost 110 branches worldwide including Australia, England, South Africa, and more.
